A truly magical place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Riviera del Río feels less like a hotel and more like stepping into a mysterious old mansion from another era. The whole place has a mystical, storybook atmosphere that immediately reminded me of The Witches of Eastwick. It’s full of character and charm, and wandering through the property almost feels like being in a maze where every corner reveals something beautiful or unexpected. The design is incredible. There’s even a swimming pool right in the dining room, which sets the tone for how unique the entire space is. In addition to that, there are two other pools on the property, each tucked into different parts of the hotel, giving you plenty of peaceful places to relax. The energy of the place is very special. It has this old-world, almost “castle-like” feeling that makes you feel like you’re living in a different time. At moments I genuinely felt like Juliet looking out over the property. It’s romantic, mysterious, and very memorable. Another charming detail: there are resident cats that live on the property, which somehow adds even more to the magical vibe. The location is also perfect. You’re very close to all the action in Puerto Vallarta, including great restaurants, nightlife, and the main areas you want to explore, but the hotel itself feels peaceful and tucked away. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel that feels unique, atmospheric, and full of personality, I highly recommend Riviera del Río. It was a really special experience.

We had a fantastic experience at the River Del Rio hotel. We stayed in Vanity which was a large spacious room with beautiful views of the Rio Cuale. Javier and his team provided world class customer service and were a valued resource for tips and suggestions. Javier was kind enough to contact a doctor and get my girlfriend help within minutes as she was not feeling well. We couldnt appreciate this enough. Roof top pool was excellent and provided stunning views of the mountains and surrounding area. Highly recommend and will be staying here again when we return to PVR.

This hotel is a work of art. I've never experienced a place as delightfully quirky as this building before. The building is tastefully decorated and endlessly interesting. I felt like there was always a new decoration surprise to discover each time I went into a room. We received fantastic service from the staff at this hotel. We were checked in by Javier who provided exemplary service with a smile for the duration of our visit. Plus there was always complimentary cold tea available in the lobby! Each person at the concierge was friendly and had recommendations for the area (especially restaurants) and they were all hits!! We learned quickly to trust their judgement because it led to fantastic meals. The rooftop bar (staffed by the genial Jerry and Carlos) and pool was relaxing and provided stupendous views of the town and Rio Cuale below. And if the infinity pool was too cold for your liking, there is a rooftop hot tub on the 3rd floor roof as well! The hotel considered convenience every step of the way, with rolled towels available at both pools as well as the hot tub, and easy to access refreshments. There was even a community sourced basket of sunscreen by the infinity pool. The room was grandiose, humorously so almost, as we were staying in the Candelaria Suite. This room boasted a comfortable bed, lounge chair, desk with chair, armoire, grand lighting, and had tasteful unique decor throughout. The bathroom had a gigantic tub / shower combo (not sure if it would even stay warm with the volume of water it would take to fill the tub) but the shower was consistently hot and comfortable. The toilet worked well and surprisingly there was a bidet next to it which was greatly appreciated. I wish bidets were in more hotels! The Candelaria Suite bathroom and bedroom entrance is only separated by a curtain if that matters but as a couple staying there, it was a point of humor. Plus there's a wall for most of the bathroom regardless. Plus, Candelaria has a private outdoor patio for reading and an inside kitchenette with stove, microwave, utensils, coffee maker, and fridge! The only detractor for the stay, which is hard to combat because of the converted manor and open-air design, is that sound does carry quite well. Too well at times! However, the staff swiftly responded to our concerns when we had trouble sleeping due to a loud separate guest. And we didn't have any other issues with the other rooms being loud. The streets can get boisterous but that's why we're here right? TV in room worked with streaming services. I saw Netflix, Prime, YouTube etc. The housekeeping was greatly appreciated yet respected privacy when requested for certain days. Thank you!! We chatted with some other guests throughout our stay and had a great time as the hotel promotes friendly vibes. There is even a complimentary breakfast if you book directly with additional paid supplementary options. Overall, highly recommended. I didn't know hotel stays could be this interesting or enjoyable.

Such a memorable experience from the minute we walked into the hotel till the second we checked out. The Rasputin room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay (the views from the balcony were especially beautiful, we even caught a fireworks show one of the nights). We did have an accident that required a hospital visit, but with the help of Ivan and Veronica helping us and making sure we were okay, we felt so grateful for them during a scary situation. Javier was especially fantastic with his recommendations and knowledge of the area. Even the bartender was such a sweet and funny guy, we always enjoyed his company. We will definitely be staying here next time (but be way more careful).

This hotel was the highlight of our recent trip to PV! The rooms and common spaces are so cool, charming, and authentically Mexican. The staff (Javier, Ivan, and co.) were very helpful and friendly. The free breakfast was delicious, the two pools are beautiful, and the location is quiet but so walkable to everything! Even the resident cats Elizabeth and Francesca were delightful. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

Best boutique hotel I’ve stayed at. I’d choose this place over any resort, big named hotel or airbnb any time. Rooms were beautiful, large, and had a stunning view. Both pools were always spacious to relax at - sometimes even had the pools to ourselves. Breakfast was great. Service was beyond amazing. This spot goes above and beyond and they have thought about every little detail. Location is great too, short (and lovely) walk through the market to get to the ocean, 10-15 min walk max. Tons of great street food less than a 5 min walk.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel, and the staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Every single person working here was kind, professional, and full of class—you can tell they genuinely care about their guests. One staff member who stood out in particular was Ruben. He is one of the nicest and most helpful people I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. He went above and beyond in every way, always checking in on us, showing us around, and making sure we were comfortable. He was especially thoughtful and patient while helping an elderly lady I was traveling with, which meant so much to us. On top of that, he made the best piña coladas I’ve ever had! Well-mannered, attentive, and truly exceptional at what he does. The hotel itself is absolutely breathtaking. The pools are gorgeous, and the sunsets—especially by the second pool—feel like something straight out of a dream. The rooftop is another highlight, featuring a massive, beautiful jacuzzi that’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the view. The rooms are all unique, each with its own character and charm, almost like individual art pieces. Everything about this place feels thoughtfully designed and welcoming. From the incredible staff to the stunning atmosphere, this hotel exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended, and I would return without hesitation.

This place is beautiful. I’ve never stayed at a hotel this perfect. Every single person went out of their way to be extra accommodating and genuinely kind. It’s like a whole wave of warmth hits you the second you walk through the doors. You really feel taken care of here. The ammentities, breakfast, and rooms are spectacular. Thanks to everyone there who made our stay extra special. Special thanks to Javier!
